Program Information

Overview

Air Cadets is an organization for youth between the ages of 12 and 18.  The three aims of the air cadet program are to:

  • Develop leadership and good citizenship

  • Promote physical fitness

  • Stimulate an interest in the Air element of the Canadian Forces

There is no cost associated with joining the Air Cadet program.  All mandatory training activities and most optional activities are delivered at no cost to the cadet.  A uniform is issued and on loan to the cadet during their time in the program and must be returned upon completion or leaving for other reasons.

The program is implemented through the affiliations of a number of different organizations including the Department of National Defence/Canadian Forces and the Air Cadet League of Canada.  The training at 395 Squadron is implemented by qualified staff that are either Canadian Forces Reservists in the Cadet Instructors Cadre or appropriately trained and screened civilian instructors and volunteers.

395 Squadron is supported by a very dedicated Parents' Committee that helps organize and plan activities for cadets and parents, including a number of fundraising endeavours.  All parents of cadets are invited and encouraged to attend meetings and familiarize themselves with the Parents' Association at 395 Squadron.
